Central education campus for Wolfsburg

All areas of education united in one place in future

A place for everyone who learns, teaches and accompanies: At Alessandro-Volta-Straße 11, a new central location for municipal educational work is being created in Wolfsburg. The planned education campus will bring important specialist areas from youth, school, integration and adult education under one roof for the first time.

In future, the Adult Education Center (VHS), the All-Day School Department, the Early Childhood Education Department, the Integration Department and the Strategic Education Management Department will work together here - directly, easily and with short distances.

"With this concentration, we are creating new perspectives for the educational landscape in Wolfsburg. We are not only investing in modern infrastructure, but above all in better learning conditions and new educational opportunities for the people in our city. This is a clear commitment to Wolfsburg as a city of education," explains Lord Mayor Dennis Weilmann.

Future-oriented and networked

The new campus will not only create space, but also enable new forms of collaboration. The future rooms will be barrier-free, digitally equipped and flexible to use - offering modern conditions for employees and participants alike.

Funding will be provided by an earmarked reserve from the sale of the VHS site on Heinrich-Heine-Straße. The new school is to be built there. For the municipal budget, this means no additional burden - at least for the time being.

Education from a single source

City Councillor Iris Bothe, responsible for youth, education, integration and social affairs, emphasizes: "With this location, we are creating a place where education is not thought of in terms of responsibilities, but in terms of people's life courses. From early childhood education to schools, integration and adult education - everything is interlinked. This enables new forms of cooperation, more participation and real equality of opportunity."

This is the timetable

The plan is for the move to be completed by the end of August 2026 - if the Wolfsburg City Council gives its approval. The decision will be made on 10 December 2025. The VHS will use around 4,400 square meters at the new location. Other parts will remain on Hugo-Junkers-Weg - but with closer organizational ties.

With the education campus, Wolfsburg is consistently pursuing its education strategy - towards a city in which learning is actively supported at every stage of life.
