The Bildungshaus Wolfsburg is the knowledge hub for everyone in Wolfsburg: You will find something for every occasion in our extensive range of information and education. Our courses, media and events serve

  • Lifelong learning,
  • the realization of your personal interests in further education and training,
  • leisure activities and
  • overcoming challenges in individual life situations.

The Bildungshaus whets your appetite for knowledge, creates opportunities for communication, provides impulses, offers low-threshold opportunities for acquiring knowledge as well as spaces for learning, discussing and trying things out and invites you to linger as a non-commercial meeting place.

As part of Wolfsburg's educational landscape, the Bildungshaus team makes an important contribution to strengthening the knowledge society and coping with social and urban change processes. The Bildungshaus is a physical, hybrid and virtual place of education with offers for all age groups and life situations.

The Bildungshaus stands for equal opportunities, participation, diversity, tolerance, inclusion, respect, sustainability and digitality in a democratic society.
The VHS and library bring their respective strengths to the Bildungshaus, complementing each other to create a synergetic range of services geared towards the interests and needs of Wolfsburg residents.

The following facilities belong to the Bildungshaus Wolfsburg:

  • VHS Wolfsburg

The Wolfsburg Adult Education Center is the publicly responsible and ideologically neutral adult and further education institution of the city of Wolfsburg, which aims to provide open access to lifelong learning and includes vocational, political and general education.

    Das Logo der Volkshochschule

On the basis of the Lower Saxony Adult Education Act, the VHS offers a wide range of educational opportunities for all sections of the population. In addition to the open courses on offer, which include more than 1,200 courses and events every year, the VHS also offers target group-specific qualifications such as integration courses or school-leaving qualifications in the second educational pathway.

    Open courses

At the Volkshochschule Wolfsburg you have the opportunity to

    • catch up on your school-leaving qualifications,
    • prepare for a course of study,
    • keep fit and healthy,
    • learn new languages,
    • expand your digital skills and abilities,
    • strengthen and develop their personal skills or expand their political
    • political, intercultural or creative skills.

Our courses and events are open to everyone, affordable and needs-oriented. We accompany you throughout your entire educational biography with qualified staff, new media, a learning-friendly atmosphere and neutral educational advice. Our offer is aimed at individuals, groups, institutions and companies.

    VHS opportunity

An important task of the VHS is also to help ensure that all people living in Wolfsburg have the opportunity to participate in social life. The acquisition of the German language for people who have recently moved to Wolfsburg or have fled is a decisive factor for success. As the largest provider of integration and German courses in Wolfsburg, over 1,500 people take part in these courses every year. Our basic education and second-chance education courses enable people who do not have a school-leaving certificate to catch up on their qualifications and thus improve their chances on the training and employment market. And with our in-depth career guidance programs, we support school students in their career choices.

  • City Library

Wolfsburg City Library is the point of contact for information and media provision for various target groups in the city of Wolfsburg: whether schoolchildren are looking for sources of information for their presentations and assignments, students need suitable literature for their studies or reading enthusiasts simply want to borrow the latest releases from the bestseller lists - they will all find what they are looking for in the city library.

    Das Logo der Stadtbibliothek

With various events such as picture book cinemas and the annual JULIUS CLUB, the city library supports reading and language development in Wolfsburg's kindergartens and primary and secondary schools. In the learning centers at the school centers, various modules are offered for school classes to strengthen reading, research and media skills.

The central library provides a well-stocked range of media for children, young people and families. A welcome corner with foreign-language literature, newspapers and magazines, travel literature and specialist media round off the offer. The central library offers quiet places to work and read, but also opportunities to chat and engage in conversation.

The online offer includes the ONleihe, where over 12,750 digital media can be borrowed for use on mobile devices such as e-book readers, tablets and smartphones, the Pressreader for international magazines and newspapers, as well as well-known databases such as Munzinger, Britannica Library,...

  • Language Education

In view of our linguistically and culturally diverse society, teaching language skills is a task for everyone involved in the upbringing and education of children, young people and adults. This requires coordinated services based on a common basic understanding. The language education officer of the city of Wolfsburg, who is based in the Bildungshaus, coordinates the language education offer along the educational biography and continuously develops the language education concept.

The training courses offered by the language education team are aimed specifically at educational professionals in the field of early childhood education and elementary school and also offer modules to promote multilingualism. The courses cover the basics as well as the various aspects of language education and support and focus on diversity.
