Lost and Found Rights:
Lost property rights can be claimed when the found object is handed in. Ownership of the lost property can be acquired if the owner does not contact us within the retention period (6 months). Lost property that is not returned to either the finder or the owner is put up for auction.
- Keys, glasses, umbrellas, worn clothing (hats, gloves, scarves) are not recorded.
- in case of found documents, the owners are automatically notified in writing. Therefore, it is recommended to wait one to two weeks before applying for replacement documents.
When the lost property is collected (by the owner/finder), administrative fees will be charged. These are dependent on the residual value of the lost property.
Turning in a lost property: immediately
Institutions (Phaeno, Badeland, Autostadt, Real, bus companies, etc.) usually hand in the collected lost and found to the lost and found office every four weeks.
Retention period: 6 months
