In order to enforce or defend legal claims in connection with participation in road traffic, the registration authority can provide information about the owner and the liability insurance of a vehicle.
Applicants can be private individuals, lawyers or public bodies. For reasons of data protection, the application must be made in writing with reasons or in person. The registration authority holding the license plate is responsible for issuing the information.
Information from the vehicle register is only possible for Wolfsburg vehicles and only in certain cases.
Reasons for information are:
- Information on owner data due to claims for damages as a result of a traffic accident.
- Information on owner data due to claims for reimbursement of costs/damages in connection with the relocation of a vehicle
- Information of owner data because of blocking of a private exit
- Information on owner data due to unauthorized use of a private parking space
- Information on owner data due to blocking of a parked vehicle
- Information on the holder's data due to claims for compensation for damage to/soiling of clothing or other personal items caused by a vehicle
- Information on the owner's data due to refueling without payment
- the identity card/passport with certificate of registration
- the proof of legitimate interest / written justification of the application with indication of the official registration number
