Procedure for school tickets (public transport)

From the 2025/2026 school year, the procedure for the school travelcard will change. There will be an upstream online demand query. The prerequisite for receiving a school travelcard will then be the registration of requirements.

All pupils who are entitled to a school travelcard and would like to receive one must register their need online.

If there is an entitlement and the notification of need has been submitted, the school travelcard will be issued at the respective school at the start of the school year.

All pupils have the right to use public transport. This is independent of whether a right to transportation arises from the school transportation statutes.

However, if there is no free transport entitlement, all pupils or their legal guardians are free to purchase single, multiple or monthly tickets from the transport company.

If required, a network-wide monthly student ticket (30 euro ticket) can be purchased from the WVG. Further information on all tickets can be obtained from the WVG

Notification of loss, theft or damage to the school travel pass must be submitted to the school office by the legal guardian or adult student. For this report, the loss report must be completed in full and signed. After reporting the loss, the school ticket will be blocked. A processing fee of 20.00 euros must be paid if the school travel pass is lost.

    Company internship

Pupils are also entitled to transportation for work placements in certain year groups. It should be noted that only the cheapest student fares are reimbursed when using public transport. For a two- or three-week internship, for example, it is possible to purchase a 30 euro monthly student ticket. Single or multi-ride tickets can be purchased for one-week internships or weekly visits to vocational schools. Student transportation costs are generally only reimbursed upon application and presentation of the original tickets. Further information can be found in the application form.

For internships outside of Wolfsburg, decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. The application for reimbursement of costs must be submitted to the school before the start of the internship with a detailed justification.

Note: Students who have a school ticket (public transport) can use the ticket within Wolfsburg and will not be reimbursed for travel costs.

  • Transportation of students with disabilities

    Transportation of students with disabilities

Students who need transportation due to a permanent or temporary impairment are entitled to free transportation between home and school. Parents must submit an application with a medical certificate to the school division in order to receive free transportation. In addition, the City of Wolfsburg can order a medical examination by a public health officer. This also applies if students are temporarily unable to walk to school or use public transportation (e.g. broken leg, surgery, school accident).

Exempted school transportation is provided by regular minibuses, passenger cars and special wheelchair vehicles. Exempted school transport is to be compared with public bus transport (no cab).

Applications can also be obtained directly from the school office.
