Hello and welcome!
My name is Dennis Weilmann - I have been Lord Mayor of my home city of Wolfsburg since September 2021. I want to make sure that life in Wolfsburg continues to be good and even better. Together with you, the people of Wolfsburg, I would like to make my contribution to making Wolfsburg livable and lovable for the future.
A functioning urban society without voluntary work, for example, is inconceivable to me. And that is why the focus must be on this voluntary contribution to the common good. During my term as mayor, I will take numerous measures to strengthen volunteerism! But we are also seeing right now how important a healthy and functioning local economy is. An intact local economy ultimately also ensures that social and community programs and projects can be supported. Another main focus is on education, culture, sports as well as other important issues.
Our hometown has always been dynamic, bright and economically well positioned. But we must not stand still! We must move forward, make courageous decisions, always be a corner faster. This also includes the topic of downtown development. In the short term, we need a better quality of stay - it must be fun to drive into the city and spend the day there. That's what I'm working for: a lively, attractive, green center that appeals to all generations! I will work to ensure that all people who want to live in Wolfsburg also find a suitable home here - and above all that Wolfsburg also remains the home of the people of Wolfsburg.
For me, a citizen-oriented attitude and responsiveness is a cornerstone of good politics, which is why talking to you in person is very important to me. I look forward to your wishes and suggestions.

The Lower Saxony Municipal Constitution Act (Niedersächsisches Kommunalverfassungsgesetz NKomVG) confers important responsibilities on the Lord Mayor, above all the competence for state tasks delegated by the federal and state governments.
In detail, the duties of the Lord Mayor are regulated in Section 85 of the NKomVG and include:
- Representation
- Management of the city administration
- Preparation of the decisions of the Management Committee
- Execution of the decisions of the Council as well as the Administrative Committee and fulfillment of the tasks assigned to it by the Administrative Committee
- Decisions on measures in the field of defense, including the protection of the civilian population, and on measures for the fulfillment of other tasks which the state carries out on behalf of the federal government or for the execution of which the federal government may issue individual instructions
- Decisions on licenses under trade law and immission control law
- decisions on tasks subject to secrecy
- Execution of instructions issued by the municipal and specialized supervisory authorities, insofar as there is no discretionary power in this respect
- Execution of the transactions of the current administration not falling under numbers 1 to 6
- Duty to inform the citizens
