The necessary costs of a funeral will be covered if the person obliged to do so cannot reasonably be expected to bear these costs.
Please note that the Wolfsburg Social Welfare Office is only responsible if the deceased last received social assistance according to the Social Code XII (SGB XII) in Wolfsburg, or died in Wolfsburg.
An application for reimbursement of funeral expenses can be obtained at the Service Office (City Hall B, Room 104).
If the application for reimbursement of funeral expenses is made in advance of the funeral, the applicant should notify the funeral home, as only reasonable costs will be reimbursed.
The application for reimbursement of funeral expenses can also be made retroactively after the funeral has already taken place.
