Extended certificate of good conduct

  • General information

    An extended certificate of good conduct is required for persons who work or are to work professionally, voluntarily or in any other way with children and young people.

    A distinction is made between the certificate of good conduct:

    for private purposes
    This is usually required by employers, associations and institutions where the applicant is in contact with children and young people.
    The extended certificate of good conduct allows information about certain previous convictions in sexual offenses. A personal appearance and a corresponding
    certificate from the employer, association or institution is required.

    For presentation to a public authority
    This is required by authorities where the applicant is in contact with children and young people. The extended certificate of good conduct allows information
    about certain previous convictions in sexual offenses. A personal appearance and appropriate certification from the authority is required.
    Please note: The exact address of the authority, the office or the case processing, the file number or purpose of use is required, as the certificate of good conduct is sent directly to the competent authority in this case.

    Since 01.09.2014, it has been possible to apply for a certificate of good conduct online using the new ID card. However, anyone who cannot or does not wish to use this service must appear in person. We will send your application to the Federal Office of Justice (telephone: 0228 99 410-40). You will receive a reply from there within one to two weeks.

  • Requirements

    • At the age of 14 (before this age, the person is not of age to be punished). If the person concerned has a legal representative, this representative is also entitled to apply.
    • The applicant's first or second place of residence is in Wolfsburg.
    • The application must be made in person and must be accompanied by a valid identity card or passport.

  • Required documents

    • A written request from the authority requiring the extended certificate of good conduct and confirming in this that you require the extended certificate of good conduct for the exercise or future exercise of a child- and youth-related activity is required.
    • In the case of the official certificate of good conduct, additionally the address of the authority, file number/purpose of use, contact person.

  • Fees

    13,00 Euro

    If necessary, a fee exemption is possible:

    1. in case of indigence (welfare recipients, pupils of parents with Hartz IV benefits, trainees of parents with Hartz IV benefits, students of parents with Hartz IV benefits),
    2. because of a special purpose (voluntary work at a non-profit organization, e.g. AWO, Caritas, DLRG, volunteer fire department, Red Cross).
    3. Reading mentors from the reading network

    The exemption from fees is to be proven by proof of Hartz IV or social welfare receipt or proof of voluntary work (if applicable, Hartz IV certificate of the parents).
