In case of loss or theft of the driver's license, the right to drive a motor vehicle remains.
In case of loss of driving license at 17:
The 17 year old may continue to drive. He does not lose the driving license as such with the certificate.
Driving without the paper is in principle a misdemeanor, nothing more.
A new certificate will be issued for a fee of 8.70 euros.
To apply for the new driver's license, the primary residence must be in Wolfsburg.
- Affidavit at the driver's license office about loss of driver's license OR report of theft to the police (with translation if necessary)

- identity card/passport
- Card transcript is required if original driver's license was issued by an out-of-state agency.
Tip: Use the ID terminal
An ID terminal is available in the hallway on the ground floor of City Hall B of the City of Wolfsburg. You can enter your biomatric data here:

for ID cards, passports and driver's licenses yourself. This saves effort and costs for obtaining his biometric passport photo. After capturing, the document application must be continued at the counter. The fee for capturing the data is 6.00 euros and will be charged together with the fee payable for the document application at the counter.
Please note that the data collected can only be used to apply for an identity card, passport or driver's license.
