Archival of the month

In this section, special discoveries made during the research and indexing of archival records are presented in short stories. Each month, a find is presented in more detail with an illustration and a short explanatory text.

The fascination of historical research lies in the quest to follow the traces of history, to track down new sources in remote places, to interpret them and to extract explanations for past events from them. Municipal archives offer a wide range of sources for this purpose: In addition to official records, there are maps and plans, photos, newspaper articles, films or audio documents. All these things tell about the history of the city and the people who live in it.
