General information
It is possible to drive motor vehicles at the age of 17, for which a class "B" driver's license is required (then also applies to classes M and L). The driver must be accompanied by a person who must meet certain requirements. ( see "special features" )
In this case, the "correct" driver's license can be collected by another person with power of attorney. -
Requirements
- 17 years
- Consent of all legal guardians
- Accompaniment by at least one authorized person

Required documents
- identity card
- Biometric passport photo
- Certificate of participation in first aid training
- Eye test certificate (not older than 2 years)
- Copies of the driving licenses and ID cards of the companions
Tip: Use the ID card terminal (Speed Capture Station)
An ID card terminal is available in the hallway on the ground floor of Wolfsburg Town Hall B. You can enter your biometric data here:

for ID cards, passports and driving licenses yourself. This saves the effort and cost of obtaining a biometric passport photo. Once the data has been entered, the document application must be continued at the counter. The fee for entering the data is EUR 6.00 and is charged together with the fee for the document application at the counter.
Please note that the data recorded can only be used to apply for an identity card, passport or driving license.

Deadlines
After the 18th birthday, the test certificate remains valid for 3 months at 17. During this time, the candidate can drive unaccompanied.
The driver's license can only be picked up after the 18th birthday.

Special features
The accompanying person must meet the following requirements:
- at least 30 years old
- have held a class B driver's license for five years
- no more than one point in the central traffic register
