It is possible to have a vehicle registered in Wolfsburg changed to a license plate of your choice for a fee - provided the license plate is free and available. Information on availability and possible license plate combinations can be found on the Internet at Wunschkennzeichen - Online.
Short license plate combinations (for example WOB-A 1 etc. and also WOB-AA 1) can only be assigned if the necessity is determined during the presentation of the corresponding vehicle. Since there are a number of vehicles with limited space for the license plates and conversions are not always possible or reasonable and short identification numbers are only available to a limited extent, the Wolfsburg registration authority must regulate the allocation of short license plate combinations restrictively.

For seasonal, vintage or electric license plates, the combination of numbers and letters must not exceed a total of 4 characters/placeholders.
For a classic car license plate with seasonal entry, the combination of numbers and letters must not exceed a total of 3 characters/placeholders.
The letter series HJ, KZ, NS, SA, SS as well as HH are generally not available.
In order to prevent improper reservations, it is not possible to transfer the license plate to a third party.

Complete overview of the shareholders (usually shareholders' agreement); power of attorney and declaration as to which person the registration is to be made out to (confirmed by signature of all shareholders) as well as the identity card / passport of the shareholder as to whom the registration is to be made out to.
Fees will be charged in accordance with the Fee Regulations for Road Traffic Measures (GebOSt) from an amount of 27.90 euros. The specific fee amount can only be determined on site based on the submission of the complete documents.
Additional costs for the creation of license plates are not included and will not be charged by the vehicle registration authority.
If there are any fee arrears, these must be paid on the day of registration in accordance with the Motor Vehicle Registration Requirements Act, otherwise registration of the vehicle will be refused.
If there are tax arrears, these must be paid at the relevant main customs office. Registration can only be carried out after this.
