General information
Foreign driving licenses (not EU-card driving licenses) are only valid for 6 months for driving in Germany.

Requirements
The residence must be in Wolfsburg and the foreign driver's license must still be valid.

- Identity document (identity card or passport)
- Biometric passport photo
- foreign driver's license
- Translation (by officially recognized translator, ADAC or embassy)
- Eye test or ophthalmological certificate
- Certificate of participation in a first aid training course

An ID card terminal is available in the corridor on the ground floor of Wolfsburg Town Hall B. You can enter your biometric data here:

for ID cards, passports and driving licenses yourself. This saves the effort and cost of obtaining a biometric passport photo. Once the data has been entered, the document application must be continued at the counter. The fee for entering the data is EUR 6.00 and is charged together with the fee for the document application at the counter.
Please note that the data recorded can only be used to apply for an identity card, passport or driving license.

Fees
45.10 euros as a rule (if the probationary period has not yet expired, the amount increases to 45.90 euros).

Deadlines
From the date of registration of residence in Germany, citizens have 6 months to have their driver's license transferred. After this period, the foreign driver's license loses its validity.
