10th Wolfsburg Race Day on 01.06.2024

The city of Wolfsburg and Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences have launched the "AkkuRacer" to intensify their collaboration with local schools. This friendly competition, now in its tenth year, once again gave pupils (8th - 10th grade) the chance to build an electrically powered vehicle, which was originally powered by a cordless screwdriver and has been powered by a wheel hub drive since 2023. The teams received advice and support from students and staff at the university throughout the competition.

The basis for the vehicle is the wheel hub drive, the control system and the batteries provided by Ostfalia. The students have the task of building a vehicle with three or four wheels under the motto "Future". At the end, all participating teams compete against each other on race day.

The framework conditions for the construction of the vehicles are changed regularly, so that new challenges always have to be overcome when students participate over several years.

This year's AkkuRacer race day took place on June 1, 2024 from 10:00 to 15:00 on the forecourt of phaenos. In addition to competing in three driving disciplines, each team had to present their project on race day with a poster presentation. A jury then evaluated the presentations and the implemented concepts.
