Many roads in the city will be renovated in summer
This summer, we are once again renovating major traffic routes so that your journey remains as smooth as possible. The main construction periods are the summer and factory vacations:
Willy-Brandt-Platz (June 10 to 20):
As part of the 2025 surfacing program, the second construction phase of Willy-Brandt-Platz will be refurbished. Between the crosswalk in front of the station and the middle access road to Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße. Work will be carried out in two parts, each with a full road closure.
In the first part, the section from the crosswalk to the entrance/exit of the parking garage will be tackled (June 10 to 16). During this time, buses will not be able to travel directly to the main station, but will only stop at the ZOB. The short-term parking lot is closed to public traffic and serves as a bus parking lot. The parking lot at the station can be accessed via Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße. From the direction of ZOB/phaeno, Willy-Brandt-Platz will become a dead end, but can be used by cars and cabs to pick up or drop off passengers at the station.
The second part includes Willy-Brandt-Platz from the entrance to the parking garage, including the middle connection of the street to Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße (June 16 to 20). From then on, buses will return to the station as usual. The parking garage can now only be approached from the direction of the station. Pedestrian traffic will not be restricted.
Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße (July 7 to August 1):
Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße will be repaired between the junctions with Lessingstraße and Saarstraße. The northern carriageway is affected, i.e. in the direction of Fallersleben. However, the road will remain single-lane in both directions. During the construction period, traffic will be routed via the southern carriageway. The construction period is during the plant vacations from July 7 to August 1.
Braunschweiger Straße (July 7 to August 1):
Braunschweiger Straße will be repaired between the intersections with Siemensstraße and Röntgenstraße. The roadway out of town is affected. However, one lane of the road will remain open in both directions. During the construction period, traffic will be routed via the lane heading into the city. The construction period is during the plant vacations from July 7 to August 1.
Schillerstrasse (July 11 to 21):
Schillerstraße will be repaired in both directions between the junction with Heinrich-Heine-Straße and the traffic lights/junction with Schillerpassage. The work will be carried out under full closure and the corresponding detour is currently being coordinated.
Further measures throughout the city
In addition to the central traffic axes in the city center, further measures are planned throughout the city. All measures are at the planning stage and are subject to change. As soon as further, concrete information is available, we will update it here.
Construction is underway in the following districts:

Center West
Sauerbruchstrasse is being completely renovated. Construction will start on June 23. The construction period will last around eight months. Traffic will be maintained during the construction work.

Ehmen
The surface of Mörser Straße in Ehmen is being renovated. Construction is expected to run from July 4 to 10.

Hellwinkel
The connecting path between Dahlienweg and Schreberstraße is due to be resurfaced. Construction is expected to last from July 4 to 11.

City center
- The ZOB bus platforms 2, 4 and 6 will be repaired, probably from July 9 to 31.
- The joints along Porschestraße (pedestrian zone) will be repaired, probably from July 14 to August 13.

Fallersleben
The Hofekamp is being renovated. Construction is expected to run from July 14 to 17.

Kästorf
The road surface on the K 46 (Kohlgärten) is being repaired. Construction is expected to run from July 14 to 17.

North City
A resurfacing project is due to be carried out on Werderstrasse. Construction is expected to run from July 14 to 17.

Warmenau
- The K 46 will also be renovated in Warmenau, probably from July 14 to 21.
- Bridge renovation, probably July 14 to 21.

Wendschott
In Wendschott, Brechtorfer Straße is being repaired. Construction is expected to run from July 21 to 30.

Barnstorf
The road surface on the K 111 will be treated, probably from August 4 to 8.

North Steimke/Hehlingen
Section South 1 of the Alternative Green Route Section South 1 - along the K 5 between Steimker Gärten and the Steinbeker Straße junction - is being tackled. Construction is expected to start in August. Traffic will be maintained and one lane will be maintained in both directions.

Brackstedt
A footpath and cycle path is due to be renewed in the street "Lange Trift". The construction period will run from mid-August to mid-September. The road will have to be closed on one side and traffic will be alternating. The sidewalk will be fully closed.

New house
The next section of the "Alexanderberg" road is due for basic renewal. This is a measure that has been ongoing since August 2024 and is expected to run until November 2025. The road is fully closed for the construction period, but is open to residents. The Steinkopf bus stop will not be served.

Hellwinkel terraces
The final road expansion with the construction of sidewalks, parking pockets, tree islands and road surfacing will continue. Construction period: at least until the end of 2025. The work will be carried out in sections with full road closures.
