World Refugee Day on 20.06.2025
On June 20, 2025, World Refugee Day will take place in Wolfsburg for the 10th time! Under the motto "Old roots in the heart, new roots in the world", the Integration Department invites you to the beer garden of the indoor swimming pool from 4 pm to 7 pm to experience a special afternoon full of encounters, exchanges and interactive activities.
The event will be opened at 4 p.m. by the Lord Mayor and the Head of the Department for Youth, Education and Integration of the City of Wolfsburg.
June 20 is World Refugee Day - a day that reminds us that millions of people are forced to leave their homes. There are currently 120 million refugees worldwide - the highest number ever recorded. Behind these shocking figures are individual fates, broken families and children who have to grow up in the most difficult conditions and do not get the opportunities they deserve.
In the anniversary year 2025, the focus is on "roots". Trees cannot move. Their roots stay in one place, which is why it is difficult to take them with you. People also love their homeland. But sometimes they are forced to leave their country. However, this does not mean that he forgets his homeland. Memories always remain in the heart, and people can put down new roots in their new home and grow new trees.
