Board of Management Department II

Iris Bothe

City Councillor for Youth, Education, Integration and Social Affairs

"Everything starts where people are at home."

Iris Bothe - Stadträtin für Jugend, Bildung, Integration und SozialesWolfsburg is a city where community grows in everyday life.

A daycare center where children discover languages, friendships and curiosity.

A youth club where ideas are born and the future begins.

A neighborhood café where generations come together in conversation.

A family that finds stability and support in difficult moments.

People who come to Wolfsburg and experience opportunities, friendships and a new home here.

Neighborhoods are the places where participation begins. This is where daycare centers, schools, youth welfare services, family centers, care services and neighborhood initiatives come together to form a network that is sustainable. Youth welfare services give children and young people security, support and a voice. Family centers and neighborhood management create spaces for encounters and advice. Projects such as Communities That Care or the Neighborhood Mothers show how prevention, participation and integration can succeed in everyday life. Wolfsburg's diverse educational landscape - from schools and universities, libraries and adult education centers to clubs, associations and initiatives - opens up numerous avenues for lifelong learning.

For me, social responsibility also means that no one is left behind when life becomes difficult. Whether poverty prevention, care or support in everyday life - Wolfsburg should be a city that supports people in all phases of life. Specialists and employees in daycare centers, schools, social services and care are the foundation of this. Their work, their passion and their professionalism make for quality and reliability. Equally important is the commitment of the many volunteers, clubs and associations who take on responsibility and strengthen our network.

Wolfsburg is an international city - diversity is not a vision here, but an everyday reality. It makes us richer, more open and stronger.

My vision is a city in which children have good opportunities, young people are involved, families experience security, senior citizens are at the heart of society and diversity is lived as a matter of course. A city in which no one is left alone and everyone finds their place.

Wolfsburg wins when we stick together - in every neighborhood, in every phase of life, for all people.
