Voices from Wolfsburg

Lord Mayor Dennis Weilmann:

"A strong city needs strong communities. If we support children at an early age in resolving conflicts independently and respectfully, we are investing in social cohesion, democratic skills and a resilient urban society. The commitment of school mediators has an impact far beyond the classroom and is an important component of our city-wide education and engagement strategy."

Head of Education Iris Bothe:

"The ability to deal with conflict is a key skill for young people. School mediation empowers children to take responsibility for their actions. The qualified volunteers bring life experience, time and empathy with them - this is a valuable support for our school communities."

Dora Balistreri, Head of the Volunteering Office

"Volunteering thrives on people who want to contribute their skills and gain new perspectives at the same time. Working as a school mediator is meaningful, unifying and strengthens solidarity in our city."
