For dogs: free-range area in Ehmen is ready
Wolfsburg has a new outdoor area for dogs! Four-legged friends can now run around to their heart's content in Ehmen too. The area of around 2,000 square meters at the southern cemetery is fenced in and thus offers extra safety for dogs and owners.

"The dog exercise area in Ehmen is finished, which is great news for all dog owners," says Mayor Dennis Weilmann happily. "As a dog owner, I can well understand the desire for off-leash areas. Free-range areas are a great alternative, especially during the leash obligation period."
"We are aware that there has been a desire for more off-leash areas for a long time, which is why we are now happy to be able to make a concrete offer in Ehmen. At the same time, we are examining other options for free-range areas," adds Kai-Uwe Hirschheide, First City Councillor and City Planning Officer.
Parking facilities at the south cemetery
Visitors who want to use the free run should park at the Südfriedhof. From the parking lot, we have cleared a path to the meadow and signposted it. At the same time, we ask that you do not drive to the free-range area via the adjacent field path. This is too narrow and there are no parking facilities.
Three free-range areas set up - more are being examined
In addition to the new free-range area in Ehmen, there are also free-range areas for dogs at Detmeroder Teich and Allersee - although these are not fenced in. In addition, after a one-year test phase, the dog beach at Allersee has been permanently established. We are also continuing to examine other areas in order to meet the wishes of citizens and gradually increase the number of outdoor areas in the city.
In the meantime, we are unable to implement a potential area in Reislingen South-West. The biotope mapping required in advance has shown that "other mesophilic grassland" has developed there in recent years. This means that the Federal Nature Conservation Act applies and we are not allowed to change the area.
