Wolfsburg honors German-Italian friendship
Ambassador Fabrizio Bucci signs the city's Golden Book

"Italians have played a decisive role in shaping our city over the past decades - economically, culturally and socially. Ambassador Bucci's visit is a strong sign of the close ties between Wolfsburg and Italy, especially in the anniversary year of the 1955 recruitment agreement and our 50-year town twinning with the province of Pesaro-Urbino," emphasized Lord Mayor Dennis Weilmann.
Living town twinning
The visit underlines the close connection between Wolfsburg and Italy - a relationship that is deeply rooted in shared European values, decades of partnership and a lively cultural exchange.
This year, Wolfsburg can look back on half a century of twinning with the Italian province of Pesaro-Urbino. Numerous events are taking place as part of this golden anniversary, including a concert performance of the opera The Journey to Reims by the Rossini Opera Festival Pesaro at the Scharoun Theater in September.
Italian community in Wolfsburg
With over 4,900 Italian citizens with first citizenship, the Italian community is the largest foreign population group in Wolfsburg. Since the first labor migrations in the 1960s, close ties have grown which today represent a living example of successful integration and a united Europe.
