More space for movement
New single-field hall opened in Wendschott

Mayor Dennis Weilmann emphasized the importance of the location: "Wendschott is a district with great dynamism and strong cohesion. In growing districts in particular, it is important that the infrastructure grows with them - especially for schools, but also for clubs and voluntary work. The new hall is an important building block to ensure good local conditions and gives the diverse voluntary work in the clubs the space they need."
Planning and implementation
The starting point for the project was a request from the Wendschott local council due to the increasing utilization of the multi-purpose room at WSV Wendschott and the growing need for sports facilities. The planning decision was made in 2018, the property decision in 2021. The foundation stone was laid in June 2023 and construction was completed in April 2025 - including the associated outdoor facilities.
"With the single-field hall in Wendschott, we have created a functional, well-designed building that can be used in the long term and meets local needs," explains First City Councillor and City Planning Councillor Kai-Uwe Hirschheide. "It was a reliable process from the initial idea to planning and construction. The hall blends in well with the existing surroundings and meets high technical and design requirements."
Key data and use
The hall offers a playing area of 31 by 17 meters with overall dimensions of 62.8 by 18.3 meters. The building includes a functional wing with four changing rooms, four sanitary facilities and other ancillary rooms. The total costs amounted to just under 6.7 million euros.
The main future users are Wendschott elementary school, which is run as an all-day school with a sports profile, and WSV Wendschott e.V. with its wide range of activities - including soccer, gymnastics, table tennis, Pilates and Zumba. Use by the neighboring daycare center or other clubs is also possible.
Councillor Andreas Bauer emphasizes: "Schools and clubs need modern, easily accessible rooms. With the new hall, we are creating exactly that: better conditions for school sports, for training and games, more opportunities for leisure activities. Wendschott is thus gaining a strong sporting foundation. This fits in well with the idea of Wolfsburg as a sports city, which we are developing further together."
We would like to thank everyone involved for the successful implementation of the project and look forward to a lively use of the new hall by schools, clubs and local residents.
