Ground-breaking ceremony for the new Kästorf local fire department building
Starting signal for modern fire station

"With the new building, we are creating modern conditions for our firefighters - this is a strong commitment to safety in our districts and an expression of our appreciation for their voluntary commitment," emphasizes Mayor Dennis Weilmann. "We are not just investing in a building here, but in the future viability of our emergency services."
Preparatory measures are currently underway on the site, including the installation of an angled retaining wall, the installation of rainwater retention, the creation of construction roads and earthworks to profile the site. This work should be largely completed by the beginning of June so that building construction can begin immediately afterwards. The costs for this first phase amount to around 400,000 euros.
"The new fire station is not just a functional building, but a future-oriented building that meets the latest requirements in terms of technology, spatial concepts and sustainability," says city planning officer Kai-Uwe Hirschheide. "It creates the structural conditions for our firefighters to carry out their important work even better and more efficiently."
The aim is to complete the building by the end of the year so that the interior work can continue over the winter months. The Wolfsburg City Council had approved around 6.8 million euros for the new building, including the integrated call station, as well as a further 570,000 euros for the expansion of the adjacent cul-de-sac.
