For diversity and tolerance!

From 10 to 27 May: Colorful program of events sends an important signal

In order to send a strong signal for diversity and tolerance, our Equal Opportunities Department has organized this year's Wolfsburg Weeks of Diversity and Tolerance with many different partners - with first-class events for all Wolfsburg residents.

Diversity, tolerance, solidarity. In today's society, life is colorful and Wolfsburg is a city that is home to over 140 nations. Diversity and tolerance mean peaceful coexistence between people of different nationalities, cultures and religions. But diversity and tolerance also mean standing up for our way of life and defending our values, our democracy and human rights.

"Diversity and tolerance should be a matter of course among ourselves. However, the political and social developments of recent years give cause for concern. I often get the feeling that we take our way of life and our democracy for granted, but it is not. It has been worked hard for and it is our duty to protect and preserve it. This is another reason why the Wolfsburg Weeks of Diversity and Tolerance are so important to us," emphasizes Lord Mayor Dennis Weilmann.

Events reflect Wolfsburg's diversity

"This year, we have been able to attract many different partners who have worked with us to put together a colorful program for Wolfsburg. This not only reflects the diversity of our urban society, but also shows how important diversity and tolerance are for Wolfsburg's institutions. That makes me really happy and proud," adds Equal Opportunities Officer Susanne Deimel.

From 10 to 27 May, there will be a colorful program of exhibitions, readings, lectures and events to experience in Wolfsburg. On May 17, the CSD Wolfsburg and the Jugendhaus-Ost are organizing a get-together. On May 23, the Streetkick for tolerance and diversity will take place in front of the City-Galerie.

Reading and discussion with journalist Georgine Kellermann

Also on May 23, the Wolfsburg Health Region invites you to a reading and discussion with Georgine Kellermann at Wolfsburg Castle. Georgine Kellermann made a career as Georg Kellermann at Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) - among other things, she was a correspondent in Paris and Washington. And she led a double life: Because in her private life, Georgine Kellermann has been living as a woman for over 40 years.

Wolfsburg Castle is also hosting the group exhibition Abenteuer Körper (Adventure Bodies ) by the Kunstverein Wolfsburg - on show from May 23 to August 10. In addition, the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences is organizing a Diversity Day on 27 May.
