AkkuRacer competition inspires once again at phaeno

For the eleventh time, school teams and youth groups from Wolfsburg and the surrounding area took part in the AkkuRacer competition. On the grounds around the phaeno and the station forecourt, they proved that they can build and control electrically powered vehicles with wheel hub motors and rechargeable batteries.
Seven teams competed on Saturday, May 24, in the course, sprint and endurance disciplines. Technology, design and a presentation of the vehicle were also judged by a panel of experts - to the delight of the spectators.
The project is a cooperation between Ostfalia University, the city of Wolfsburg and phaeno gGmbH. The aim is to promote an interest in technology and teach STEM skills in a practical way. The vehicles are built over the course of a school year by pupils in grades 8 to 10 and youth groups - with the support of teachers and Ostfalia students.
