Mayor Weilmann awards badges of honor from the state of Lower Saxony
Wolfsburg firefighters honored for flood deployment

In his speech, Dennis Weilmann emphasized the commitment of the firefighters: "Your dedication has shown what solidarity means. While others spent the holidays with their families, you stood ready - without hesitation, with full determination. You not only provided technical assistance, but also gave hope. The gratitude of the local people shows how valuable your work is. The badge of honor is a symbol of our appreciation for your courage, your willingness to help and your professionalism."
The Wolfsburg fire department was alerted at around 1 p.m. that day. Just one hour later, three platoons and the command support group were ready to deploy to the Schützenplatz in Fallersleben to support the Wolfenbüttel district fire department. Among other things, the firefighters secured a retirement home over a length of around 800 meters, built dykes and laid sandbags. The operation lasted the entire night - the platoons were gradually relieved until the morning of December 27.
In addition to the Lord Mayor, Andreas Bauer, Head of Finance, Citizens' Services and Fire and Civil Protection, and Manuel Stanke, Head of the Fire and Civil Protection Division, as well as members of the City Command also took part in the ceremony.
