Work completed
Barrier-free area in Fallersleben castle courtyard
The work to make the Schloss Fallersleben courtyard accessible has been completed. In the period from April 22 to June 27, the inner courtyard area of the castle was leveled using a special grinding process, joint material was replaced and finally refined. The measure received 75 percent funding from the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR) as part of the Federal Program for Sustainable Inner Cities and Centres (ZIZ). The total costs amounted to around 75,000 euros.
The background to the redesign is an image analysis of the attractiveness of sights in the district, in which Fallersleben Castle was particularly highlighted alongside the Old Brewery. The city of Wolfsburg has therefore taken the opportunity to improve the quality of the historic inner courtyard and at the same time meet the requirements for inclusion. The lightened surface will naturally blend in over time due to weather-related washout.
