Start of construction of further mobility stations

Following the start of construction of the first mobility station in Vorsfelde in November, two more are now to be built in Westhagen and at Brandenburger Platz. Work will begin on Monday, January 5 and Monday, January 12, respectively, depending on the weather. The so-called mobiSTATIONEN are intended to bundle mobility services. The aim is to make it easier for citizens to switch between modes of transport. The completion of all four locations is planned for spring 2026.

Work will initially begin in Westhagen on January 5. During the construction process, there will only be minor restrictions while traffic is maintained. To create a disabled-accessible crossing aid, work will be carried out in several construction phases on the Dresdener Ring, with each affected lane having to be narrowed. Vehicle traffic will be guided past the construction site. During this time, pedestrians will cross the Dresdener Ring to the south of Jenaer Straße or to the north via the existing crossing.

In the final construction phase (from February), the western sidewalk from the bus stop to Jenaer Straße will be closed for an estimated four weeks. A replacement bus stop will be set up north of the crosswalk. The southbound lane will be narrowed, but will remain open to vehicle traffic. The necessary detour for pedestrians will be signposted. The planned construction period is around two months.

Construction work on Brandenburger Platz will start on Monday, January 12, with a planned construction period of four to six weeks. Here too, only minor restrictions will be necessary due to the construction process. Due to the intersection with Wohltbergstraße close to Brandenburger Platz, traffic around the construction site cannot be regulated with traffic lights. For this reason, one-way traffic will be regulated into the city via Breslauer Straße during the construction period. Out of town, traffic will be diverted via Wohltbergstraße, Königsberger Straße and Grauhorststraße.

There are no restrictions for pedestrians. The market days can also take place as usual. As part of the tree work, the existing crosswalk will also be brought up to date and the guidance for visually impaired people will be significantly improved.
