Some trees are felled in Neuhaus Castle Park
The town is planning some felling work in the Burgpark and Burgteich area in Neuhaus in the week beginning Monday, February 9. A total of 27 trees will be removed. These are mainly alders, birches and willows, some of which have already died and broken out. The work has been agreed with the Lower Nature Conservation Authority and is necessary to restore road safety in this area.
There will be no replacement planting in this area because it is a flat, forest-like stand on the banks of the castle pond. The area will be replanted through natural regeneration and close the gaps that have arisen on its own. These self-seeded trees are optimally adapted to the location. As a matter of principle, the city's Green Division is endeavoring to keep them as small as possible and to compensate for the number of trees felled with new plantings in suitable locations throughout the city.
