Cultural hacking - How do you want to live together?

Who or what are our cities built for? For shopping, for short distances. For people and cars. For animals too? For children and their leisure time? For meetings, exchange and consumption-free enjoyment? We ourselves can ensure that we create space in which the "city" can be experienced in a new way. The art education project Cultural Hacking of the creative workshops in the M2K of the city of Wolfsburg in cooperation with the Heinrich Nordhoff comprehensive school draws attention to this.
Six eighth grade classes with a total of around 180 pupils started the new year with the Cultural Hacking project on January 6 and have spent the past few weeks asking themselves how they can become creators in public spaces through their own initiative. At their age, they are increasingly realizing that they are part of something bigger. Through the technique of cultural hacking - observing, recognizing and changing cultural structures - they learn how they can create new experiences in public spaces and take on an effective role in their own environment.
The ceremonial final day of the project will start on Friday, February 6, after a welcome for the six classes at around 1 p.m. on Rathausplatz. A performance with all the pupils is planned there. Finally, the exhibition of ideas in the form of models, photos, videos and concepts can be viewed in the Bürgerhalle of Rathaus A from February 6 to 22.
