Public order office takes stock of the year
Safety on Wolfsburg's roads: 131 km/h is a dubious top speed
We take stock of traffic monitoring in the city of Wolfsburg for the year 2025. We detected a total of 157,469 traffic violations. This is slightly below the previous year's figure, but remains at a high level.

"The figures underline how important consistent controls are for road safety," emphasizes Andreas Bauer, Head of Department for Citizen Services, Health, Fire and Civil Protection, Finance and Sport. "Our measurements show once again that speed limits are not being observed sufficiently."
Speeding violations
In 2025, speeding violations again accounted for the largest proportion of recorded violations. A total of 112,980 speeding violations were registered - almost as many as in the previous year.
Doubtful frontrunner in the urban area
The highest measured speed in 2025 was 131 kilometers per hour (km/h) on Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße (permitted: 50 km/h). We also recorded significant speeding on Braunschweiger Straße (125 km/h), Wolfsburger Landstraße (121 km/h), B 188 (111 km/h) and Nordsteimker Straße and Dieselstraße (104 km/h each). A measurement of 83 km/h on Schlesierweg, where the speed limit is 30 km/h, is particularly critical.
Locations with the most violations
We recorded the most speeding violations at the following mobile measurement locations:
- Braunschweiger Straße (14,462)
- Heßlinger Straße (9,391)
- Berliner Brücke (8,109)
- B 188 (7,340) Berliner Ring (6,517)
Stellfelder Straße also remains a focus of traffic monitoring due to the speed reduction in force there.
Stationary measuring systems and red light monitoring
We also recorded numerous violations at the stationary speed measurement systems. At the St.-Annen junction, a total of 10,694 speeding violations were recorded at the three pillars in 2025. On Braunschweiger Straße (Westhagen exit), 5,333 speeding violations were recorded and 1,017 on Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße. However, we only put the latter two systems into operation in September 2025.
In the stationary red light monitoring at the St.-Annen junction, we recorded 1,919 violations. In 133 cases, vehicles entered the junction even though the red light had already been on for more than one second - as a result, we had to impose increased fines including a driving ban.
Parking violations
In stationary traffic, we initiated 33,364 proceedings for parking violations. In 4,227 cases, fines and cost assessments had to be issued as warnings were not paid. Overall, there was a slight decrease compared to the previous year.
Berlin Bridge truck ban
The number of violations of the ban on trucks over 7.5 tons on the Berlin Bridge decreased in 2025. A total of 2,613 violations were recorded. In 2024, there were still 4,234.
Further administrative offenses and measures
In addition, 6,593 further misdemeanour proceedings were initiated by the police and private complainants, including for alcohol and narcotics violations, traffic accidents as well as speeding and red light violations.
In addition, we had to conduct 697 proceedings for general administrative offenses, issue 56 driving book conditions and process 315 towing operations.
