One year of the economic agenda
Part 2: 10 points, many goals - Resilient automotive engineering, resilient Wolfsburg
Setting the course for the future and working together to maintain Wolfsburg as a business location - that was the basic idea behind the 10-point plan for Wolfsburg's economy presented by Lord Mayor Dennis Weilmann and Head of Economic Affairs Jens Hofschröer around a year ago. In implementing the plan, we are also looking inwards and want to improve the administrative organization and services, for example.

A key point was also the improvement of business friendliness. We want to take on a pioneering role here and are therefore looking inwards in particular. The focus here is on improving the organization and service - for example through assistance, advice and information appointments.
Structural changes have also been made with a view to improving service quality. In particular, synergies for cooperation with the business community were leveraged by integrating the Property and Facility Management division into the Economic Affairs department. The new Project Coordination department in the Urban Planning and Building Consultancy division also bundles the tasks relating to the development of residential and commercial areas and works closely with the business development department of Wolfsburg Wirtschaft und Marketing GmbH (WMG). In this way, the economic agenda is anchored organizationally and projects can be managed efficiently.
At the same time, important decisions have been made for the further development of commercial areas. This concerns the further development of Heinenkamp Ost and Heinenkamp West as well as the development plan for the Warmenau Ost industrial estate. These are intended to offer potential investors and future industries areas that meet their needs and thus make Wolfsburg more resilient.
Although car manufacturing is and will remain Wolfsburg's most important economic sector. The central point of the economic agenda is therefore to make the automotive industry more resilient and versatile. The International Suppliers Fair (IZB) will continue to play a key role in this. In addition, the city administration has launched a dialog format with the supplier industry together with Volkswagen.
The focus here is also on testing and strengthening future-oriented offerings and real-world laboratories. For example, the city is driving forward the expansion of smart parking in public parking lots and is also expanding the charging infrastructure in the city - including with new fast-charging parks in Westerlinge and at the indoor swimming pool.
