Secure a childcare place now
Parents who need a childcare place for August 1, September 1 or October 1, 2026 have until February 28 to register their child for a place in a crèche or kindergarten group. Parents can find all the information about the registration process on the Wolles Welt online portal at www.wolfsburg.de/wolles-welt. The portal provides a quick and comprehensive overview of all childcare facilities and enables direct registration.
Due to the high demand for childcare places, it may not be possible to get a place at the desired facility. The city therefore recommends that parents select five childcare facilities and prioritize them from one to five. Parents can change their selection up to and including February 28 by sending an email to wolles-welt@stadt.wolfsburg.de.
It is also important that parents provide as much information as possible about their family situation when registering (e.g. starting work or moving to Wolfsburg), as this can be taken into account when allocating places. If several applications meet the city-wide allocation criteria, further criteria can be taken into account for the allocation of places or a lottery procedure can be used.
From March 1, no new registrations or changes will initially be possible. The applications will be checked and the allocation of places prepared. Acceptances and rejections will be sent out from April 1 for priority 1, from April 8 for priority 2 and from April 15 to 21 for priorities 3 to 5. Parents must respond within one week, otherwise no places will be allocated.
If no place is offered, the application will remain on the waiting list of the respective facility for up to three months. If places become available, subsequent allocation is possible. From April 22, new registrations and change requests for the start of childcare on August 1, September 1 and October 1 are possible again. Registration is possible at any time for child day care, in which children aged one to three are primarily looked after by qualified child day care staff.
