Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße: renovation planned for summer
Section between Lessingstraße and Schachtweg to be renewed
Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße is at the top of our list for this year's road surface program. The section between Lessingstraße and Schachtweg is to be renovated during the summer vacation. The plan is to renew both directions of travel one after the other. Around 530,000 euros have been earmarked for the project. The city council will decide on this at its March meeting.
"Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße is one of our major projects. We have been renovating sections of this important traffic artery for several years now, always with a view to minimizing traffic disruption. That's why we want to take advantage of the summer vacation period again this year," explains First City Councillor and City Planning Councillor Kai-Uwe Hirschheide.
Why the renovation is necessary
The roadway has severe ruts, cracks and many patches. Renewal is therefore absolutely essential. A total of around 5,200 square meters of asphalt are to be repaired. The plan is to remove the existing road structure to a depth of 20 centimetres and rebuild it.
So that you can continue to get through Wolfsburg as easily as possible, the construction site will be organized in such a way that one lane in each direction will remain open during the entire construction period.
Both directions planned in one summer
Contrary to previous plans, both directions of travel are to be renovated this summer. The second construction phase towards the city center, which was originally scheduled for 2027, is to be brought forward.
