Kästorf trestle windmill

The so-called Schrader's Mill, which was built more than 150 years ago on the Pathfinder Trail between the Wolfsburg districts of Kreuzheide and Kästorf, is another branch of the Wolfsburg Castle City Museum.

It is a trestle windmill that originally stood in Schöppenstedt. A miller dismantled it there in 1861 and rebuilt it in Kästorf near Wolfsburg. Miller Gustav Schrader took over the mill in 1921, hence the nickname.

The mill trade was operated here until 1969. After the mill was shut down, it became the property of the city of Wolfsburg, which restored it as a technical monument.

With an extensive accompanying program, the mill is traditionally open on Whit Monday. Upon prior request, a visit is possible at any time accompanied by museum staff.
