Goals and tasks of the SOD
- Improvement of security, order and cleanliness, among other things by patrols in the city center and the districts as well as in Allerpark
- Deployment in dangerous situations
- Monitoring compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Event security (including at major events such as trade fairs, concerts, sporting events, open Sundays and the like)
- Control of construction sites
- Monitoring of stationary traffic, in particular fire department access roads, parking spaces for the severely disabled and stopping bans
- Monitoring of flowing traffic through speed measurements and the use of speed display boards, mainly along school routes, in front of kindergartens and accident blackspots
- Towing measures
- Immobilization of vehicles
- Inspection of restaurants and special use permits
- Supervision of weekly markets
- Residence investigations
- Driver investigations
- Verification of gritting and clearing duty
- Securing of estates
- Cooperation in the Streetlife project (specialized service for crime prevention, violence counseling and offender work of the city of Wolfsburg)
- Weapon confiscations
Note on the VW parking spaces
Checks on VW AG parking lots have again been carried out independently by the SOD since October 2021.
