Deregister residence

  • General information

    A deregistration must only be submitted to

    • Moving abroad
    • giving up a main or secondary residence without moving into a new residence
    without moving into a new home.

    If you move within Germany, you only need to register with the new municipality of residence. Deregistration is automatically sent from there to the previous registration authority.

    A written confirmation of deregistration can only be issued on the day you move out

    You must deregister your secondary residence at the registration office of your main residence.

    Deregistration can also be done by e-mail. To do this, send the signed and scanned deregistration form including your scanned photo ID by e-mail to info-buergerdienste@stadt.wolfsburg.de.

  • Required documents

    You will need the following documents:

    • the identity card/passport

    When deregistering a family, the identification documents of all family members are required. Children over 18 years of age must deregister themselves.

    For deregistration by e-mail:

    • scanned and signed deregistration form
    • scanned identity card/passport

  • Fees
    free of charge
  • Deadlines

    The notification period after moving into a new apartment is two weeks.

    You can also use this service in the administrative, local and district offices.

    To deregister your secondary residence, send the required documents to abmeldung.nebenwohnsitz@stadt.wolfsburg.de.
