Contemporary history meets art

Dr. Alexander Kraus talks about Wolfsburg's cultural policy

On the first Thursday of every month, Marcus Körber, director of the Städtische Galerie Wolfsburg, invites visitors to an art talk during the lunch break. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Städtische Galerie, he holds talks with people from Wolfsburg and the region about the current exhibitions. The topics covered will include the city's history, art and culture as well as current world events. After visiting the exhibition, lunch can be enjoyed together in the hunting hall of Wolfsburg Castle.

Dr. Alexander Kraus from the Institute for Contemporary History and City Presentation (IZS) will be our guest on 08.05.2025. In keeping with the anniversary of the Städtische Galerie Wolfsburg, Körber and Kraus will discuss key aspects of Wolfsburg's cultural policy in a historical and current context, with the current anniversary exhibition builds a bridge between the past and the present. The various historical documents on display from the IZS archive give visitors an insight into the city's early cultural policy decisions. In addition, they address the handling of art in public spaces in Wolfsburg.
