Library introduces "extra time" on Saturdays

Wolfsburg City Library is extending its Saturday opening hours from October 4. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., specialist staff will be available as usual to provide advice, borrow books and help with research. A new feature is the subsequent extra time from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.: a supervised self-service offer where visitors can use the library freely to read, work, play or meet others. Borrowing and returning items is also possible via the self-service checkout.

With the extra time, the library wants to respond more flexibly to the needs of the population and make access easier for working people, families and young people. The test phase will initially run until the end of 2025. If the response is positive, the service will be continued.
