Streamline administrative structures, strengthen school location
Hasenwinkel school association to be dissolved at the end of 2025 - school operations remain secure

Why this is good
"By dissolving the special-purpose association, we are creating the conditions to make Hasenwinkel elementary school fit for the future. The school processes will remain fully intact for children, parents and teachers - at the same time, the administrative workload will be significantly reduced on both sides," says Lord Mayor Dennis Weilmann.
The most important point: Wolfsburg is assuming responsibility for the site and can therefore finally implement necessary investments, such as the long-planned construction of the new gymnasium.
Königslutter's mayor Alexander Hoppe also sees the advantages: "The decision to dissolve the school is a logical step - both organizationally and financially. It was particularly important to us that the schooling of our children from the neighboring villages continues to be secured. This agreement provides clarity and continuity."
What is actually happening?
- The school will be completely transferred to the City of Wolfsburg.
- The building, grounds, gymnasium and inventory will be transferred to Wolfsburg free of charge.
- The local staff - janitor and secretary - will be taken over.
- For children from neighboring towns in Königslutter, everything remains as before: a schooling agreement in accordance with § 104 NSchG ensures continuity. Königslutter will continue to contribute to the operating costs - initially with 2,300 euros per child per year.
A model for cooperation
For Head of Schools Iris Bothe, the solution is a good example of cooperation between local authorities: "The aim is and remains to create good framework conditions for education. With the takeover by the city of Wolfsburg, we can use existing structures and leverage synergies - this not only helps the school, but also the local authorities."
The reason for the decision: The bureaucratic workload in the special-purpose association has grown considerably over the years. Particularly with construction projects such as the gymnasium, it became clear that Wolfsburg can act more effectively on its own. In joint discussions, both cities have now developed a viable solution.
What happens next?
The final decision will be made by the political bodies of both cities and the special-purpose association on December 11, 2025. Until then, preparations are underway for a smooth transition.
