Mystical moorland worlds - photo exhibition

Photographer Dirk Gildemann takes visitors to his exhibition on a journey into the mystical world of moors. The vernissage will take place on Thursday, October 2, 5 p.m., in the rooms of the adult education center (VHS, Porschestraße 72). The works will be on display until mid-February 2026 and can be visited Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. For years, Gildemann has been documenting the changes in the Great Moor, where peat extraction is gradually being discontinued and the landscape is being renaturalized with great commitment. His impressive pictures not only show the beauty of nature, but also tell of the flora and fauna, nature conservation and the central role of moors in the fight against climate change.

Moors have always fascinated people with their mysterious atmosphere and their invincibility. While meadows can be mowed and forests cleared, the moor is beyond human control - and this is precisely where its magic lies. Mist that forms in the damp landscape in the morning and evening transforms the Great Moor near Gifhorn into an enchanted dream world in which figures and creatures suddenly appear.

About Dirk Gildemann: Gildemann is a photography lecturer at the Wolfsburg Adult Education Center, a full member of the Society for Nature Photography (GDT) and an active member of the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU). His passion for nature and his photographic skills make the exhibition a special experience.
