Olympics in Wolfsburg?
Wolfsburg supports Hamburg's bid to host the Summer Games
As a German candidate city, Hamburg is aiming to host the next Olympic and Paralympic Games. Paralympic Games - and Wolfsburg is to be the venue for the Olympic soccer tournamsoccer tournaments.

As part of a further development of the overall and sports venue concept, the Hanseatic city has decided to focus on a "north-east German cluster" in order to keep distances short for spectators and athletes and to strengthen the regional partnership.
"I am proud that Wolfsburg is being considered as a venue for the Olympic soccer tournaments. As a sports city, it is a great honor and motivation to be part of the biggest sporting event in the world. In addition, the idea of distributing the venues in the region and thus emphasizing partnership-based cooperation and strengthening the region is an excellent contribution to the Olympic idea," says Lord Mayor Dennis Weilmann.
Six venues in northern and eastern Germany
According to the concept, the men's and women's Olympic soccer matches are to be held in Bremen, Dresden, Hanover, Magdeburg and Rostock in addition to Wolfsburg. Coordination took place in close cooperation with the German Football Association (DFB).
Four of the six locations are only around 200 kilometers away from the main venue in Hamburg. The selection of the six venues was officially submitted to the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) at the end of August. This was preceded by a careful examination. Among other things, requirements regarding capacity, modernity of the stadiums, international arena standards, infrastructural connections and a balanced regional distribution were taken into account. The selection includes arenas with a capacity tailored to the requirements of the Olympic soccer tournament.
