More space for the fire department in Vorsfelde

Planned extension to improve working conditions and increase safety

The fire station in Vorsfelde is to be extended from summer 2026. An extension with new rooms for storage, training and youth work is planned. The existing building will also be modernized - including the renovation of the roof and balconies.

We want to strengthen our fire department - with better working conditions, more space and modern technology. In Vorsfelde, we are therefore implementing the third construction phase of the fire station. The aim is to secure operational readiness in the long term and ensure greater safety during operations. The costs for the extension are expected to be around 2.1 million euros. A corresponding council resolution is still required.

More space, more safety

The plans include gender-segregated changing rooms, additional storage space and rooms that can be used specifically for training and working with the youth fire department. This will improve internal processes and create more safety for everyone involved in the volunteer fire department.

"Our volunteer fire department makes an indispensable contribution to safety in our city. It is our job to provide modern and safe working conditions. The planned expansion is a strong sign of recognition for this commitment - and for the protection of the people of Vorsfelde and beyond," emphasizes Lord Mayor Dennis Weilmann.

Planned in close coordination

The planning is being carried out together with the Vorsfelde local fire department and taking into account the requirements of the Lower Saxony Fire Brigade Accident Insurance Fund. This is important to us - especially because the site leaves little room for maneuver.

"With the third construction phase, we are not only creating urgently needed space, but also significantly improving internal processes and occupational safety. The planning is closely aligned with the requirements of the fire department accident insurance fund - despite the cramped site situation on site," explain city planning officer Kai-Uwe Hirschheide and fire service department head Andreas Bauer.

Sustainable thinking

The extension is the last remaining part of an overall concept for the fire station. The funds are planned in the city's volunteer fire department program for the years 2025 to 2027. The running costs will be covered from 2028. A photovoltaic system on the roof of the vehicle hall is also planned - it will be implemented separately.
