Start-up center for Wolfsburg
Funding approval for new start-up project

A strong signal for the future of our business location: together with Wolfsburg Wirtschaft und Marketing GmbH (WMG), the city of Wolfsburg is realigning its start-up support. We have received a funding commitment for this from the state of Lower Saxony. Lord Mayor Dennis Weilmann and Jens Hofschröer, Head of the Economic Affairs Department, received the decision in person from Minister of Economic Affairs Grant Hendrik Tonne. The new start-up center can be funded with up to 300,000 euros until the end of 2028.
"We want to offer founders a professional infrastructure, advice and a strong network of business, science and education. The positive funding decision marks an important milestone for the further development of our start-up location," says Lord Mayor Dennis Weilmann.
New meeting place for ideas and innovations
With the planned start-up center, we are creating a central location in Wolfsburg that makes new ideas visible and connects those interested in founding a company with experienced partners. Business, research and sponsors will come together here. The aim is to develop innovative solutions for our region.
"Following the positive council decision to support tradespeople and start-ups in the city centre, the funding commitment offers us the opportunity to drive forward and concretize the reorientation of start-up support together with a professionally convincing partner network," says Jens Hofschröer, Head of Digital and Economic Affairs and WMG Managing Director.
"The start-up center will become a place where people interested in founding a company, research institutions, companies and sponsors come together and develop innovative solutions together."
From the initial idea to the start-up
In addition to modern workspaces, the center will also offer consulting services and direct contact with partners from business and IT. Our aim is to provide founders with holistic support - from the initial idea to commercial independence.
As a central point of contact, the center bundles existing initiatives and expands them further. The focus is particularly on technology-oriented start-ups in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), automotive transformation, the circular economy and healthcare/medtech.
A strong network from the region
We were able to attract many strong partners as early as the application stage, including
- IHK Lüneburg-Wolfsburg
- Open Hybrid LabFactory (OHLF) with the TU Braunschweig
- Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences
- School 42
- BANSON Business Angel Network e.V.
- KI Park e.V.
- and other partners from science and industry
With this strong network and financial support, we are making Wolfsburg fit for an innovative future.
