Citizens are incurring additional costs of usually 29.90 euros - just for the preparation of the application and forwarding to the registry office. This service fee is in addition to the actual administrative fees. The city of Wolfsburg therefore recommends applying for certificates exclusively via the official websites: www.wolfsburg.de or www.rathausonline.wolfsburg.de.

Suitable online applications can be found quickly by entering terms such as "birth certificate" or "marriage certificate" in the search field on the city's website. A so-called "Bund ID" is required for use, which can also be set up there. Before submitting an application, users should check the legal notice of the respective website to see whether the city of Wolfsburg is listed as the operator. If this information is missing, it is not an official service and additional costs may be incurred. Since January 1, 2026, the fee for a civil status certificate has been 20 euros nationwide; each additional copy of the same type costs 10 euros.
