The Real Estate and Facility Management business unit takes care of many aspects of construction and housing.

The division and scope of activity of the business unit

  • Residential Areas and Projects Staff Unit

    We offer bundled and networked information on all interesting aspects of living and building in Wolfsburg. We provide you with interesting information about the current construction areas and projects, the potential areas that are planned or under preliminary examination, and information for developers. It is irrelevant whether the developments are municipal or private building areas or projects.

  • Residential

    From the initial idea of an urban construction area, the preparation of the political decision-making process to the implementation of compensation and replacement measures, as well as the final construction of the development roads, support is provided by the "Residential Areas" team. During the planning phase, the team is the right contact for all questions concerning the urban construction area.

  • Housing projects

    Residential projects in inner-city locations are becoming increasingly popular. Regardless of whether these are investor projects on municipal or private land, rental or ownership projects, or communal forms of living, the Housing Projects Unit is responsible for coordinating all coordination requirements.

  • Hellwinkel and Nordsteimke East Project

    The two large district projects Hellwinkel and Nordsteimke/Hehlingen are measures with urban district structures due to their size, urban structure, degree of density, etc. Due to their complexity, they are developed in a separate project group.

  • Real estate transactions

    The Real Estate Transactions Department is your contact for the acquisition of land as well as rights to be secured by land register. In addition, the commercial areas of the city are sold. Furthermore, the department includes the specialist area of agriculture with the leasing of agricultural land, the real association supervision as well as the urban forestry.

    Another area of responsibility is the handling of surveys on city-owned land.

  • Land allocation, leaseholds and housing

    The marketing team advises those looking for land on building sites that are ready for construction or in the pipeline and sells the city's building plots.

    The Housing Promotion Agency not only promotes the construction or purchase of owner-occupied property on the basis of the City of Wolfsburg's subsidy program, but also supports the age-appropriate conversion of residential property or rental apartments. In addition, the Housing Promotion Agency supports applications for housing subsidies from the state of Lower Saxony.

    The leasehold team advises the city's approximately 8,500 leaseholders on the content of the contracts, the development of ground rents and the modalities for the sale of leaseholds.

  • Management of land and buildings

    In addition to renting out apartments and commercial premises owned by the city, the department is responsible for leasing out undeveloped municipal land, managing fairgrounds and looking after village community facilities.

    Furthermore, as an internal service provider, activities such as the provision of premises for all administrative units of the city administration, building cleaning, energy management or the testing of portable electrical equipment are performed centrally.

  • Wohnberechtigungsschein

    A WBS is a certificate for households whose income is within certain income limits. It entitles the holder to move into a publicly subsidized apartment. The WBS has a term of one year and is valid throughout Lower Saxony.
