Service for current and future employees of the City of Wolfsburg

The Human Resources business unit is a central service and management unit with around 50 employees.

We offer our services to around 4,000 salaried employees, civil servants in the divisions, departments and municipal enterprises.

In addition, we look after the city's pension recipients.

Our tasks are personnel administration and personnel support, personnel recruitment and personnel development, occupational health and safety and health promotion, training and continuing education, and position management.

The tasks of the Human Resources division also include the wide-ranging activities of service, labor and collective bargaining law.

Our work focuses on concepts and strategies for personnel recruitment, personnel development and health promotion.

Awards

In 2019, the City of Wolfsburg was certified by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economics, Labor and Transport as a "Demografiefest 4.0 - Sozialpartnerschaftlicher Betrieb" for the third time, following 2015 and 2017. This certified that the City of Wolfsburg is working sustainably to improve working conditions. The renewed recertification took place because the targets agreed in 2017 for managing demographic change in the world of work were successfully implemented.

In 2013, the city of Wolfsburg was repeatedly recognized as a Move Europe Partner Excellence for its outstanding commitment to occupational health management. The city administration has thus established an outstanding occupational health management system that ranks among the best in Germany.

Occupational health management is integrated both structurally and strategically into the company's processes and promotes a company-wide culture of health. Employees benefit from comprehensive health services tailored precisely to their needs and their performance and motivation are sustainably strengthened.

  • Personnel development and organizational development

The Human Resources Development department performs the central tasks of personnel and organizational development at the City of Wolfsburg.

Our current understanding of human resources and organizational development has its origins in the administrative reform process we began in the mid-1990s in accordance with the New Control Model.

Under the motto "From a public authority to a service company", a fundamental change was initiated.

The central challenge of this period for us is the development of demographically appropriate personnel management. In our view, special attention must be paid to the areas of "aging workforce," "attractive employer," "knowledge retention" and "health promotion," among others.

  • Training

The city administration offers a variety of interesting apprenticeships in over 20 professions. These include classic administrative professions as well as professions that are atypical for the administration, for example in the skilled trades or industrial sector.

As one of the largest training companies in the region, we are currently training around 160 young people. Every year, we add 50 to 60 new recruits who receive a qualified and exciting start to their careers. After successful completion, we offer all of them very good chances of being taken on.

  • Occupational health management

We are an interdisciplinary team. We provide our services for employees of the administration and the municipal enterprises of the city of Wolfsburg.
