Heiligendorf conservation statutes
The inner area of the Wolfsburg district of Heiligendorf is still characterized by a large number of historic individual buildings or former farmsteads.
Over the last few years, the area has been gradually transformed. Older buildings are being demolished and replaced by new buildings. As a result, the village is losing its characteristic architectural elements. The public and local politicians are increasingly calling for the face of the village to be preserved.
Section 172 of the German Building Code offers the possibility of preserving the buildings that characterize the town. Preparatory studies are to be carried out for the study area as per the annex following the decision to draw up the plan in order to determine which elements are characteristic and should be preserved.
Once the analysis of the buildings has been completed, the final scope of the conservation statutes will be determined.
If a building application impedes or conflicts with the future objectives of the conservation statute during the drafting process, the application can be postponed for up to twelve months in accordance with Section 15 BauGB. Once the conservation statutes have come into force within this period, the building application can be decided on the basis of these statutes.
