Apply now, become an arbitrator!

The city of Wolfsburg is looking for new arbitrators.

We are looking for a new arbitrator for the Stadtmitte/Nordstadt arbitration district. Do you live in this district and are you interested in helping people on a voluntary basis? Then apply now.

Arbitration is a voluntary activity for out-of-court dispute resolution in criminal and civil law. Arbitrators are particularly involved in cases of insults, damage to property, disputes with neighbors, trespassing, threats and the like.

To be an arbitrator, you should have life experience, communication skills and a willingness to settle legal disputes amicably. The arbitrators have the task of mediating between the parties and are not allowed to force an agreement. The motto is: "Mediate instead of judge". You must have your permanent residence in the relevant arbitration district, should not be younger than 30 years of age and should not be restricted in the disposal of your assets by court order.

No special prior knowledge is required. However, you are expected to enjoy applying the law and be willing to undergo further training. Interested parties should bear in mind that the exercise of the office involves a certain amount of local presence and time, although this cannot be precisely determined.

Depending on the size of the arbitration district, the arbitrators are elected for a period of 5 years by the relevant body of the City of Wolfsburg. They are then confirmed by the Director of Wolfsburg District Court. In addition to personal support and reimbursement of expenses incurred, the arbitrators receive a monthly housing allowance of 50.00 euros.

Are you interested in this special voluntary work? Then apply by 29.09.2023. You will find an application form at the bottom of this page. You can also find more information at https://www.wolfsburg.de/rathaus/stadtverwaltung/30-rats-und-rechtsangelegenheiten.
