Celebrate the summer together with funk, Balkan, pop and classical music!
Summer stage in the baroque garden of Wolfsburg Castle

Tradition meets zeitgeist: There is something for every age and every taste, from funk to classical to pop as well as Balkan and Afro beats. In addition to the baroque garden, the vaulted cellar in Wolfsburg Castle also offers a unique atmosphere for celebrating. The organizers of the Sommerbühne are thus once again focusing on the exclusivity of the event locations. What's more, the summer stage radiates out to the Allersee. The Braunschweigische Landschaft e.V. picnic concert with the Braunschweig State Orchestra at the Allersee will celebrate the grand finale of this year's Summer Stage.
Kai-Uwe Hirscheide, First City Councillor and Head of the Cultural Department of the City of Wolfsburg, and Andreas Meyer, Head of the Cultural Department of the City of Wolfsburg, are enthusiastic about this varied program: "The Sommerbühne has been a permanent fixture in Wolfsburg's cultural landscape for many years and always impresses with special highlights far removed from the mainstream. In addition to concerts in typical summer stage styles, visitors can look forward to interesting and modern genre mixes."
"We have expanded our program with the people of Wolfsburg in mind. Our guests, both young and old, can look forward to discovering new things, celebrating the summer together and having fun. Dance lovers will also get their money's worth. The castle's vaulted cellar will become a club location exclusively for the summer stage and we will make room in the baroque garden by moving the chairs aside for dancing," says Monika Kiekenap-Wilhelm, Head of the M2K Institute of the City of Wolfsburg, extending a warm invitation to the summer stage.
"We are delighted that the International Summer Stage has once again designed a diverse and interesting program and at the same time expanded its spectrum. As a sponsor from the very beginning, we can see how versatile and important the format is for Wolfsburg and how it continues to inspire people in the region," says Rita Werneyer, spokesperson for Cultural Engagement at the Volkswagen Group.
These artists will be performing at the Summer Stage:
FATCAT: Radio
To kick off the summer stage on June 13, FATCAT will impress with their charm and undisguised authenticity. Their concerts are an irresistibly sweet party melting pot of funk, soul and disco pop, with ecstatic rhythms that invite you to shake and dance along.
ŠUMA ČOVJEK: Swiss-Bosnian-Algerian Balkan pop brass
The sound of Šuma Čovjek on June 14 is an eccentric mixture of melancholy ballads, rhythmic Balkan pop-rock pieces, oriental beats and furious brass sounds. Stories are told in French, Croatian and Arabic in the native languages of the two lead singers, touching the audience and making them dance to the sound.
DJ Taboa: Club night in the vaulted cellar
Following Šuma Čovjek on June 14, the vaulted cellar in Wolfsburg Castle will be transformed exclusively into a club and will make the old castle walls vibrate with DJ Taboa. Taboa stands for a new, up-and-coming and self-confident sound - full of rhythm, perspective and international influence and inspires with energetic sets between Afro-House, Amapiano, Hip-Hop and Future Beats.
Kita sings: Big performance by the very little ones
The performance by 550 children from 28 participating day-care centers on June 15 is the highlight of the largest cooperation project of the Wolfsburg City Music School and has enriched the program of the summer stage for years. On June 15, the performance of the youngest children unfolds a special magic and successfully promotes the children's enjoyment of music. Admission to this concert is free.
Veeble: Italian folk 'n' roll mix
On June 20, the Roman band Veeble will thrill the audience with a glamorous, lawless and vibrant groove! In wild western Italian style, the musicians take up the most diverse styles: Afro-Latin grooves, pure rock'n'roll, rattling beats, hip-hop, Sinti-Jazz and brilliant surf sounds refined with reggae.
Family day on the summer stage: free admission
On June 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the summer stage will offer a colourful program for young and old: In the baroque garden, visitors can marvel at live performances ranging from dance to music. Imaginative walk acts as well as a magician and balloon artist will enchant the guests of the Family Day. All castle institutions open their doors. The bouncy castle is the perfect place to let off steam, various hands-on activities ensure there's never a dull moment and food and drink are also provided.
Luca Noel: German pop
Luca Noel is an extraordinary talent and will delight the summer stage audience on the evening of June 21 with his catchy melodies and emotional lyrics. With his German-language pop, he shows his world. With corners, edges, wrong turns, shortcuts and depth, giving the audience courage, hope and a good feeling.
Picnic concert of the Braunschweigische Landschaft e.V. with the Braunschweig State Orchestra
