A strong future in the public sector
Start of training at the City of Wolfsburg

On August 1, the city of Wolfsburg welcomed 53 new trainees to their first day of training. For 34 women and 19 men, this marks the start of a new phase in their lives - they are beginning their professional careers in a total of 12 different training occupations. The career starters were welcomed in the council chamber by Lord Mayor Dennis Weilmann and the Chairman of the General Staff Council, Peter Wagner.
"I am delighted that so many young people have decided to train with the city. Especially in times of a shortage of skilled workers, committed, curious and responsible junior staff are invaluable," emphasized Dennis Weilmann. "They not only actively shape their own future, but also that of our city. We offer training with prospects, responsibility and many development opportunities."
Peter Wagner adds: "Starting a career is an important step. We are committed to ensuring that all of our trainees find an appreciative, supportive and encouraging environment - both for the practical and theoretical parts of their training. Because this is the only way training can really succeed."
A total of 135 young people are currently undergoing training with the City of Wolfsburg. The application phase for the start of training in 2026 is already underway. The City of Wolfsburg offers a wide range of opportunities: In addition to traditional administrative professions such as administrative assistant or IT specialist for system integration, commercial and technical apprenticeships are also offered - for example in green maintenance, with the fire department or as a specialist for swimming pool operations.
